BATTICALOA: The Belt Grading ceremony for students, organized by the Eastern Province branch of the Japan Karate-Do Shotokan Study Association (JKSSA), was held successfully last Sunday (08.02.2025) at Kiran Central College, Batticaloa.
Presided over by the association's Chief Instructor, Kyoshi H.M. Vijayakumara (8th Dan Black Belt, Japan), the event involved rigorous testing of the students' martial arts proficiency, following which they were awarded their next belt rankings.
The event was graced by the presence of JKSSA instructors N. Nagrajah, S. Sathananthakumar, S. Sahayaraja, A.F. Navas, and S. Akshayan, who oversaw the proceedings.
Hundreds of students along with their parents from various training centers across the Batticaloa district—including Mailambaveli, Valaichchenai, Kiran, Navatkudah, and Mavadivembu—participated with great enthusiasm. It is noteworthy that the event was designed to promote discipline, mental fortitude, and technical self-defense skills among the young practitioners.
